Hello! I just have completed my personal challange to record and release a song a month for a year with an accompanying film. TILT, inspired by the seasons was originally composed and recorded as a 30 minute sound installation. I decided to expand upon the original cycle and compose a movement for each month of the year. To make myself commit to the project I decided to release each movement with accompanying film made using footage taken during that month. Now the collection is complete I plan to release the full album via my bandcamp page and on a select few other sites. You can watch all the films on the TiLT page of this website or go to my YOUTUBE page and view them, and other films there.

After a tremendous run of the Cromer Pier Christmas Show where I danced, sung and violined in stunning outfits with a beautiful cast on stage and amazing crew backstage, I hurtled into 2025. I allowed myself a breath to consider 2024. Not one for looking back but I'm glad I did as 2024 was such an incredible year for me. Please check out my blog post all about 2024.

Here we are, movement 12 of 12.
Lencten, March.

As TiLT is a cycle It felt right to return to where I started so this movement is an instrumental arrangement of Something New, the April song. The film is mostly a celebration of daffodils which look all gorgeous and glamorous in the march sunlight.

‘Froth of white Hawthorn I wear a dainty sweet spring crown.
Shimmering misty blue rising up from the cold ground.
Yellow and yellow and yellow
And every perfect shade of green’

TiLT is a song cycle inspired by the seasons. I composed the 4 main songs, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter over a 12 month period, writing each song during it’s respective season. At the same time I collected field recordings which I used to create the interconnecting electoacoustic compositions. I am releasing a song every month starting in April 2024.

Movement 11. February.
‘APRICITY’
The warmth of the sun in winter.

I love snowdrops. They’re like little dreams of spring bubbling up from the earth as the land sleeps in preparation for the big explosion that simultaneously feels like one gust of wind away and yet a hundred years away as we are teased with late winter sunshine followed by cold hard days.

I would have liked to have spent longer on this film but my editing app was messing me around and what with February and its shortness I ran out of time as per usual! 😑.
I’m getting so close now. Just one more month to go! I’ve managed to stick to the plan, one movement and accompanying little film every month.

January

As the celebrations of the end of the calendar year subside we slide into the coldest and longest month. Although technically we have passed the longest night, January always feels dark. A time for rest and contemplation, what came before and what is ahead. The earth is sleeping deeply and dreaming of new life.

TiLT is a song cycle inspired by the seasons. I composed the 4 main songs, Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter over a 12 month period, writing each song during it’s respective season. Perihelion- Greek, peri (around) and helios (sun)
The point where Earth is closest to the sun during its orbit. In 2025 it was on 3rd January when Earth was 91,405,992 miles from the sun.

My new album 'Violin Song' a mix of classical, pop covers and original compositions is now availble to buy in CD format only via my shop (bandcamp) or direct from me if you're local. I will have them availble to buy at gigs and when I'm busking.

Poppyland Songs book and CD is available to buy from Jarrolds in Cromer or from my shop (bandcamp). An updated version with extra songs, more photos and history behind the project. There is a CD album included and there will also be a download code in each copy so you can also download the album digitally plus the digital version has some bonus songs on it too which I couldn't fit on the CD!

After a couple of months away from my beloved Bowjangles whilst I did the Christmas show we roared into the new year with a sell out rural tour followed by a return to cruising with Seabourne. We have lots of plans up our sleeves. Dracula In Space is back in the theatres in May and our new compilation show Classically Untamed - 17 years of mayhem is also going to be making more appearances over the year.
