Education
Bertie Anderson studied viola, composition, piano and voice at the Purcell School of music for 4 years, then continued to study viola at the Royal College of music on a Foundation scholarship with Ian Jewel. She also completed an academic music degree at City University focusing more on singing, composition, both acoustic and electroacoustic techniques, and studio production.
Classics with a Twist
After discovering the wonderful world of street performing in Covent Garden Bertie has been championing the unique style of performance that has emerged there over the past 10 years. Bringing 'Mozart to the Masses' this very non-classical style of performing breaks down the stuffy traditional appearance of classical music. By using physical comedy, audience participation, dance and a very robust confidence, not often seen in a concert hall, Mozart and Brahms are brought to life in a way everyone can enjoy and understand. Last year Bertie was a key figure in protecting this artform when the existence of the pitch (the only classical music busking pitch in the world) was threatened. She is very passionate about reaching a new and wider audience for classical music and introducing children to the joys of playing an instrument through this style of performance.
Groups
Bebeto String Quartet, The Permira Quartet, Lotus Flute Quartet, Cube, Graffiti Classics, Pluck and her current group Bowjangles who are taking this style of performance to a new level.

This year she has worked with the Karl Jenkins Festival Orchestra and The Alvarez Ensemble performing several world and UK premiers at St. Johns Smiths Square including performing a piano quintet by Krauze with Maestro Krauze playing piano. She also performs regularly on viola in The Lion King orchestra in London's West End and has recently joined the all singing, sexy electric girl group Blayz.
