+ January 2010 (31/01/2010 - 10:27:06)
What I January I've had already! Ive already appeared on Alan Titchmarsh and Popstar to OperaStar with Camilla Kerslake. I've done a couple of Lion Kings several gigs with various different groups including my jazz duo with Mitch and a couple of Lotus Classics gigs. Not only have I been gigging but this month has been a month of rehearsing too. Lotus has been busy learning new songs and new choreography which is really going well. I've started a new group with two of the Lotus girls, Emma and Ros, called The Beau Bow Belles. We are a singing and playing group inspired by the Andrew and Puppini Sisters. Our first gig is on Feb 10th at The Cobdan Club - very excited!! Ive also been rehearsing with Siren Strings for a gig in Feb in Berlin which has been really fun too. So, this month has been exhausting but really positive with lots of good work and its shaping up to be a good year I think!
On Wednesday I was the musical entertainment at the Morgan Davies Bridal Party at the stylish Zetter Hotel in Farringdon. It was a really lovely evening with some lovely people showing their wares. I really enjoyed singing and playing for everyone - and from what I heard eveyone enjoyed listening to my music as much as I enjoyed performing it which is blooming brilliant!
"Bertie Bow who is a singer and violinist provided the music all
evening long (2009 Morgan Davies Bridal Party) - according to the guests she was brilliant and 'should
sing everywhere'. " Post on August 20th, 2009 | Author: Little Miss Wedding.co.uk
Indeed, I would love to "Sing everywhere"!!!!!
I played some wedding favourites during the fashion parade including singing the seasonally appropriate SummerTime (it was 30 degrees outside!) and coveted many of the beautiful wedding dresses! I myself am not soon to be married but some of those dresses I would happily wear as evening gowns!
I would especially like to thank Penny from TigerLilly who got me involved and is quite simply a wonderful lady!
Below is a list of those who attended and who are all tried and tested suppliers as recommended by Morgan Davies, based in Islington.

I love playing at weddings! I've played at many over the years and I still wellup!!! So, last week I started contacting wedding planners and people in the industry because although I play at many it is always with one of my groups and not as a soloist.
During my research I came across Tigerlilly weddings - a wedding planner company ran by Penny. She has a blog on her website where she mentioned a new bridal gown shop opening in Angel, not far from me called Angelica Bridal. I was feeling bold and entrepreneurial so I contacted Dora, the owner of the shop and offered my services! She, amazingly, said yes. So, last night I performed a selection of songs and instrumental pieces during her reception. I took Gavster with me (left the puppy at home!) as roadie and moral support and he got some champers and choclate which was a good payoff I think!
For me it was a great success as I met several local people who are in the industry including Penny form TigerLilly so I really hope to do some more work with them in the future. People took my cards so I hope Ill get a few bookings from it.
My solo act is really begining to take off now and I am very very excited!
So, welcome to my new website! At last I got round to it....
The last few weeks have been kinda crazy in my world. Firstly I got Woody - for those who don't know, he is my collie/german shepherd/lab/boxer puppy! He is AMAZING. Today we washed him for the first time - he really didn't like that I can tell you.
Other than puppy fun I have been working on BertieBow. I've furiously been recording new backing tracks but more excitingly I have been writing some new music. Over the past 5 years I have mostly been concentrating on my song writing so getting back to writing instrumental music is great, especially with beats. At school I was always told my music was not A-tonal enough, finally I realise how thats not such a bad thing afterall!
I shall post a few bits of the new stuff on my website, I'd love to hear feedback...
